New Act Spells Major Changes for Family Law in BC

If you’re thinking about cohabiting or you’re planning to marry, you may want to explore how the new law could affect you. The long-awaited Family Law Act, which came into effect on March 18, 2013, includes some major changes on how the courts will view that relationship, as well as your assets, should your partnership come to an end. It also focuses on the best interests of the child.

John-Paul Boyd is a well-respected Vancouver lawyer who is also a prolific writer and frequent speaker on family law topics. Most recently he helped write a “Guide to the New BC Family Law Act” where he highlights the significant changes of the new act.
